CECC Office Refurbishment

The Canterbury Employeers Chamber of Commerce office building badly damaged in the February 2011 Earthquakes, with part of the building requiring demolition and the remainder being untenantable. The brief invloved designing a new building to replace the demolished section and completely refurbish the dated office building into more functional spaces embracing an open plan office environment and promoting sustainable offices. We took what is commonly known as the "Google Office" approach and designed a relaxed open plan working environment, with breakout spaces and integrating the meeting rooms with cafe style staff area. Acknowledging that different people need different working environments to bring out their best thinking and encourage productivity, we incorporated acoustically quieter areas and other areas that encouraged open discussions, creating a positive office culture that existing staff and candiates will want to be part of.CECC
